Name: Domaine La ColombetteLocation: Beziers, Languedoc, FranceWebsite: http://www.lacolombette.fr/
Fourth genertion family winemakers – La Colombette was started by Louis Pugibet when he was gifted his first hectare by his wife as a wedding gift in 1890. In the early 1970s grandson Francois made the decision to plant varietals that are now widely planted but at the time were thought not to be suited to the Languedoc (Grenache, syrah, chardon- nay, sauvignon blanc & pinot noir). His foresight and risk has enabled the family to grow estate owned, quality wines. Their chardonnay has been awarded gold medals – beating Burgundies in the Chardonnay du Monde. However it is their rose & lledoner pelut that really grabbed our attention.
